Tarot Table (1)

Coming Out of the Broom Closet

I’m putting my cards on the table.

Last week, I ran into my favorite pharmacist at the grocery store. Without his white coat, I didn’t recognize him. We exchanged that polite, slightly puzzled smile you give someone you think you know—and then it clicked. “Ryan!” I said, probably a little too loudly. We both laughed and went on our way.

It reminded me of the double takes I sometimes get when people find out I read Tarot and work with the Akashic Records. If you’ve only known me through my corporate career or coaching work, it might feel like a surprise twist in the story. I’ve seen the head tilt, the pause, the mental recalibration of wait… you do what?

 “Seriously? Tarot cards?” (Yes.)
“Do those actually work?” (Yes.)
“Can you help me win the lottery?” (I wish.)
“Will I die if I pull the Death card?” (Absolutely not.)

For me, stepping into this work was a natural path. But it took time. And guts. And a lot of trust in myself to say out loud: Yes, I read cards. Yes, I work with intuitive guidance. Yes, this is real work. It’s deep, honest, and often life-changing.

Tarot and the Akasha have been part of my life for decades. They’re not about fortune-telling or theatrics. They’re tools for reflection and clarity, especially when the path feels messy or uncertain. I use them to help people reconnect with their own inner wisdom, get unstuck, and move forward with intention.

Eventually, as more people reached out to me, I realized I needed a landing page for this work. After a few wildly frustrating attempts to build my own website (let’s just say certain platforms and I are no longer on speaking terms), I called in the pros: Reina and Tony at 3tonedigital.com. They helped me create something clean, grounded, and authentic.

So here I am—putting my cards on the table. This is what I do. This is who I am. And if any part of it sparks something in you—curiosity, resonance, even a little nudge to explore your own intuition—I’d love to hear from you. You can email me anytime at melissa@tarotmelissa.com or book a session here.

Here’s to telling the truth about who we are—and helping others do the same.

“The privilege of a lifetime is to become who you truly are.”
— Carl Jung

What is Tarot?

Tarot is an ancient form of divination known as cartomancy, with roots tracing back to Renaissance Italy. Originally created as a card game, Tarot has evolved into a powerful spiritual tool with rich archetypal symbolism that mirrors the soul’s journey. The cards offer a reflection of our choices, patterns, challenges, and opportunities.
While Tarot can sometimes be used to glimpse future possibilities, its true power lies in helping us connect with Spirit and our intuition, tapping into the wisdom within. A Tarot reading provides clarity, insight, and perspective, helping us move through life with greater intention and trust. In many ways, the Tarot is a mirror for the soul, illuminating what’s ready to be seen and guiding us back to our own inner knowing.

How does Tarot work? Do the cards predict the future?

Not exactly. Tarot doesn’t set your future in stone. Instead, it reveals patterns, possibilities, and potential choices based on your current path. Think of it like spiritual GPS: it shows you where you are, where you’re headed, and how to make conscious choices along the way. A common misconception is that Tarot must be either predictive or psychological – when in truth, it’s both. It offers a mirror to your inner world, helping you see possibilities, realign, and make empowered decisions.

Is Tarot a religious or spiritual practice?

Tarot isn’t tied to any specific religion. While some people approach it spiritually, others view it more as a psychological or intuitive tool. My personal style blends intuitive insight with grounded guidance, and I always honor your beliefs and boundaries.

What’s the difference between Tarot and oracle cards? What’s the difference between Tarot and oracle cards?

Great question! Tarot has a specific structure: 78 cards divided into Major and Minor Arcana. Oracle cards, on the other hand, are more freeform—there’s no set number or structure, and the meanings can vary widely. I love both, but I believe Tarot gives us a deeper, more nuanced narrative.

Can anyone get a Tarot reading, or is it only for certain people?Tarot?

Absolutely, anyone can benefit from a Tarot reading! Whether you’re brand new to Tarot or a seasoned practitioner, the cards speak to all kinds of people. My clients come from all walks of life—if you’re open to reflection and insight, you’re in the right place.
